11b. GPenSIM is the “ideal tool”
Over the past ten years, I have been developing a tool for modeling and simulation of discrete event
systems. This tool is known as GPenSIM (General Purpose Petri Net Simulator). Recently, in a paper
published in the journal Science of Computer Programming, a group of Australian researchers claim
that GPenSIM was the ideal tool for modeling of discrete event systems:
Cameron, A., Stumptner, M., Nandagopal, N., Mayer, W., & Mansell, T. (2015). “Rule-based peer-topeer framework for 25ecentralized real-time service oriented architectures”. Science of Computer
Programming, 97, 202-234. Elsevier:
In section 5.3 on Page 218:
“Although there are many Petri Net modelling tools that support
marked graphs, the GPenSim [30] modelling tool is ideal, primarily
due to its flexibility …”
Also, the journal Computing Reviews commented GPenSIM as:
“a very accessible laboratory”
(Van Dyke Parunak, Computing Reviews, March 25, 2019).
